Tony Carnell

Instructor and Company Choreographer

2x Princess Grace Award nominee Tony Carnell was raised in Boise Idaho and started their dance training at age nine, after being awarded a full tuition scholarship to attend the Ballet Idaho Academy’s “Dance Advance” training program. Tony moved through the academy levels quickly and continued their training with the ballet for over 10 years. During their training Tony took part in programs and apprenticeships at prestigious schools and conservatories like The Nutmeg Conservatory of the Arts, Oregon Ballet Theater, Burklyn Ballet Theater, Gelsey Kirkland Ballet, Alonzo King’s LINES BALLET and more.

Tony’s professional career began at just age 12 dancing alongside Ballet Idaho’s professional company in Peter Anastos’s Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Sarande, Swan Lake, Alice in Wonderland and more. After graduating highschool Tony joined Idaho Dance Theater where they performed as a principal company artist  for three seasons, before returning to Ballet Idaho for their 2019-2020 season. Throughout their time in Boise Tony also worked as a company artist and choreographer with the award winning LED (Lauren Edson and Dancers) Project Flux Dance Company under the direction of Lydia Sakolsky-Basquill, and IDC(Impact Dance Center) an award winning competitive dance company where Tony worked as a coach and choreographer for 5 years. Currently living in Portland Oregon Tony continues working professionally with companies like OPEN SPACE and the LA based Heidi Duckler Dance Company and was recently scouted and signed by Go2talent Agency in LA.

With nearing 15 years of dance, knowledge, training and experience under their belt, Tony is on a mission to share everything they’ve learned with the next generation of dancers. Providing mentorship, workshops, and master classes to dancers and schools all over the country.
