FAQ

Have questions about our studio? You can likely find your answer on this page, or you can also email us at office@eda.dance anytime for more information.

General Studio

Where are you located?

Our main office and dance studios are located on the second floor of The Plex Sports Arena at 8785 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy, Portland, OR 97225.

What styles of dance do you offer?

We teach all sorts of styles – from musical theater to ballet, jazz to contemporary, tap to hip hop, improv, lyrical and more…you can see all the styles we have classes in on our Class Descriptions page.

Do you offer adult classes?

No, we do not offer adult classes. We only offer classes for ages ~2-18 at this time.

Do you offer your studio spaces for rent?

Yes, we do! While our studios are mostly booked Monday through Fridays in the afternoons for classes, we have availability and a scheduling system for studio rentals. For more information, please reach out to office@eda.dance.

What if the parking lot is full?

The parking lot at the Plex is shared by multiple facility tenants, and as such parking can get pretty full, especially on Wednesdays. If the parking lot is ever full, Elevate dance families are also allowed to park in the wedding venue across the street (but not the Chinese restaurant parking) and the Jesuit school parking lot across the street, as overflow options.

Company

What is your Company program like?

Our competitive Company program is big, fun, challenging, and very rewarding. Our dancers compete at a variety of competitions and conventions in the spring, and our award-winning choreography from both in-house and guest is nationally recognized. We love our props, completely custom costumes, hand-made hats, deep stories, and more.

When do you have Company auditions?

Our Company auditions typically take place in mid-July for the following year’s season. Announcements for Company selection go out shortly thereafter, typically before the end of July.

How else could I learn more about your Company program?

You can check out our Company page to learn more, follow us on Instagram for photos & videos throughout the season, and/or email us at office@eda.dance for any specific questions.

Performance / Recital

Do you have performances during the year?

Yes! We typically have two performances during the year, both of which are high-production shows. Our Jingle & Mingle Winter Show typically takes place in mid-December, and our End of Year Show typically takes place in mid-June. Dancers have an opportunity to perform on a live stage in front of hundreds of audience members. They’re full-on, live productions involving tons of behind-the-scenes staff and volunteers to bring to life!

Where can I learn more?

We have pages for our Winter Show and End of Year Show that will provide more information.

Free Trials

What is a free trial? Can I take multiple?

A free trial is exactly that – a no-strings-attached free trial of a class! Students can take a free trial of an eligible class they are not enrolled in, for up to four styles in a year. Hop over to our Free Trial page for more info.

What is the difference between a free trial class and enrolling?

A free trial is for students who are not currently enrolled in a class looking to try the class out before enrolling. You are not obligated to enroll in a class following a trial, and if you would like to enroll you will receive prorated tuition for the remainder of the month.

How do I start a free trial?

You’ll just need to fill out the form on our Free Trial page, picking which classes you’d like to take up to four, and then a member of our staff will reach out to you within a few business days to schedule your classes.

Enrolling / Dropping

How do I enroll or drop a class?

In order to enroll in a class, you will need to register for an account through our Parent Portal, and then select the class you wish to enroll in. In order to drop a class, that must be done via our Drop Class Form by the 25th of each month to be effective for the following month.

What happens if I do not fill out the class drop form by the 25th of the month?

You will be charged for the next month of classes if you do not fill out the form before the 25th of the month.

Is the registration fee a one-time payment?

Yes, it is a one-time payment if a dancer is actively enrolled in classes. The only time the registration fee will be charged again is if the student drops all classes from their account and then re-enrolls for a new class in the same session. This is only for the regular year session; there is no registration fee for our summer session.

What happens if I register and enroll for a class and decide I do not want to attend the class anymore?

You will need to fill out our class drop form. After the form is submitted, your dancer will be removed from the class list. However, we do not offer refunds for classes dropped mid-month.

Can I take class without enrolling monthly?

Yes! We offer drop-ins for all technique classes that are not full. Drop-ins are $20 and should be paid to the office when you check in before class. If the class is full, dancers will not be able to attend class as this brings the space above the maximum capacity. A dancer can wait a few minutes after a full class has started to see if there are any absences to allow a drop-in. In order to drop into a class, we do require that you have already registered for an account via our Parent Portal and signed our studio policies (even if you aren’t actively enrolled in any classes).

Can I transfer a class?

Yes, we do allow class transfers. Because our monthly tuition is tiered by class hours per week, there will only be an additional charge if the class being transferred into increases your amount of class hours per week. You would be charged the difference in tuition cost, prorated for the remaining classes that month.

Class Attire / Etiquette

What is the attire for class?

All class attire is listed for each style on our Class Descriptions page. Just click any style to learn more!

Where can I purchase shoes or attire for class?

Dance attire and shoes can be purchased at any dancewear store such as Dance Togs (Beaverton), Portland Dance Wear (Portland), The Leotard (Portland), and Discount Dance (Online).

How do I make up a class I missed?

If your dancer missed a class and is wanting to make up the class, please email the office at office@eda.dance to discuss make-up options. Dancers can make up in any class that is their same age group and level as long as the class has space in it. Company dancers must make up their classes in the same style as the class they missed. We ask all dancers to make up their class within the next week following their absence.

What is your policy on viewing classes?

We do not allow viewing for our classes, except for our Tiny Dancer classes or if you are viewing a free trial class. All parents may sit in the lobby downstairs to wait for their dancer during classes. Our office staff will contact any parent in case of an emergency regardless of if they are in the building or not. We offer two parent observation weeks during the season, one in the fall and one in the spring. During these weeks we welcome one parent into the studio to view class, and we send emails with further details before each scheduled week.
