Josh Murry grew up dancing on the Oregon coast. By the time he was 15 years old he went on to study at Milwaukee Ballet in WI and Joffrey Ballet School in NYC on full scholarship. He trained under former Dutch National Ballet dancer Jan Dijkwel at BYU. He danced professionally with BodyVox for six seasons, touring across the nation as well as Germany and Italy. As a featured company dancer he was a part of several dance films, creative photography, and education and outreach. Josh was a founding member of Éowyn Emerald & Dancers and toured with the company to the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, receiving critical acclaim for several years.
He has been a freelance dancer and guest artist in Portland for over a decade working extensively with The Portland Ballet, Columbia Dance, and Portland Festival Ballet. He has been featured in music videos such as "Don't Come to Me" by Nick Jaina and "End of the World" by The Bylines. In Vancouver he founded a project-based company, Washington Dance Creative, producing original work and full length shows with live music at every performance.
As a teacher with over 15 years of experience, Josh has taught in over a dozen studios in the greater Portland/Vancouver area. Teaching ballet, contemporary, jazz, partnering, and tap from beginner to advanced. He has presented original work at Olympia Dance Festival, 12 Minutes Max, and set several pieces on BodyVox's pre professional division JAG. Josh is also a dance photographer creating breathtaking images with a variety of students to professional dancers in Oregon and Washington. He is passionate about creating positive bridges within the dance community and celebrating dance as a performing art.
